The School of Management’s Entrepreneurship Club will host its annual Entrepreneurship “Speed Dating” event for this coming Wednesday, March 1.
At the event, the Entrepreneurship Club is hoping to connect start-up founders with potential co-founders or members.
“One of the most important, if not the most important, part of a new venture is the team,” said Dianna Liu, a first year events coordinator for the School of Management’s Entrepreneurship Club. “A bad team can result in an incredible idea failing, and a great team is able to make any idea successful. However, one of the most difficult parts of starting a new venture is to find that great team, especially if an entrepreneur is searching for someone outside their area of expertise and comfort.”
The event will host startup’s from across Yale hoping to find new members, as well as students from across all the Yale schools and disciplines who are eager to find a venture to join. The speed-dating style of the evening will enable participants to meet fellow entrepreneurial students from across campus.
“While the event [has always been] open to all of Yale, we’ve tried to partner with more entrepreneurship organizations across the University this year to increase the diversity of participants and start-ups,” said Liu. We realize that successful start-ups require members with a breadth of experiences and interests that a single school can’t alone provide. However, we also realize that it’s often difficult to meet interested people from other schools.
The organizers hope this event will help remedy that: Lui said, “As a founder of a venture myself, I experienced firsthand the difficulty in finding members outside of my immediate Yale program and hope that this event will help ameliorate some of the same struggles for others.”
The event will take place in Evans Hall at the Yale School of Management on Wednesday, March 1 5:30-7:00 PM.
